This years nominees for the Thalia awards have been made public and Arnheiður is among the top three contenders for this year’s award 💫 The winner will be announced on the 5th of October.
She is nominated for her interpretation of the Composer from Strauss’ Ariadne auf Naxos in the staging of Slava Daubnerová which was conducted by Robert Jindra at the Prague Estate Theater.
“Icelandic mezzo-soprano Arnheiður Eiríksdóttir has been a prominent face of the opera ensemble of the National Theater in Prague since the 2020/21 theater season. Her performances are characterized by a huge dose of musical intelligence and psychological immersion into the interior of the interpreted characters. After Octavian in The Rosenkavalier, for which she won the Thalia Award last year, this year she added another prominent Straussian “trouser” role to her repertoire – the Composer in Ariadne on Naxos. In it, she was once again able to masterfully combine flawless vocal performance with consistent acting finesse and disarming stage charm. She thus created a breathtaking portrait of an eager young artist, eager for success, but at the same time extremely empathetic, sensitive to his surroundings, in short, likable in every way.”-cenythalie.cz
